The center portion of a modern winter count. Completed in 1992 by Dawn Little Sky, a Lakota Sioux. Each image represents a major event in the history of the Sioux. The circle is the beginning of the world. The dinosaurs folllow, then they die. Early tribes hunt bison, then Columbus arrives in the New World, followed by the Pilgrims.
